5. Consent
We collect, use and share personal information with your consent, except where the law allows otherwise.
- Contact about your application. One required box on our application covers the credit authorization, your agreement to the Terms and Privacy Policy, and our contact with you by phone, text and email about your application. You must tick it to submit your application. The exact wording is:
“I authorize DriveTown Ottawa (1850420 Ontario Inc.), operating as DriveNow Financing, and the lenders it submits my application to, to obtain my credit report and other consumer reports and to verify the information I provided, to assess this application and arrange vehicle financing. This may include a credit inquiry on my credit file. I agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy, and I agree that DriveNow Financing may contact me by phone, text and email about this application. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop texts, HELP for help. You can withdraw your consent anytime by replying STOP or emailing info@easydrivecanada.com; if you withdraw before your application is processed, we may not be able to complete it.”
- Marketing texts and emails. A separate optional box covers marketing texts and emails about vehicle offers, inventory and news. It is not required to apply or to buy a vehicle, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying STOP to any text, using the unsubscribe link in any email or emailing info@easydrivecanada.com. See our SMS Terms.
- A credit report is obtained only after you authorize a credit review. Any credit inquiry is recorded by the credit bureau under its own rules.
You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 10). Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to help with your application, and some records must be kept by law.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed for the purposes above:
- Lenders and financial institutions, only when you authorize us to seek financing for you, so they can assess your application (including a credit check you have authorized).

- Service providers acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations, such as our CRM and messaging platform, SMS carriers, email delivery, website hosting, identity/phone verification and analytics providers.

We do not sell your personal information. Mobile opt-in data and SMS consent are not shared with third parties for their marketing.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy and to meet legal obligations, then we securely destroy or anonymize it.
- Applications that do not lead to a purchase: 24 months after our last contact.
- Purchase and financing records: as required by law (generally 7 years).
- Consent records: for as long as we message you, and for a reasonable period thereafter.
8. How we protect it
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including access controls, encrypted transmission and staff confidentiality. No system is completely secure. If a confidentiality incident creates a risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as required, and keep a record of the incident.
